As I've said in my introduction post, I'm always looking for gentle ways, non-irritable ways to kick all them blackheads and gunk alike out of my skin.
Out of curiosity, I went online and searched up explanations of what really caused blackheads in the first place. Turns out, it's all the oxidized, excess gunk stuck in our pores which makes up the blackheads. Amongst all the gunk that could have gone into our pores, dead skin cells is one of them, and this made me realize the importance of exfoliating and then also to the realisation that "OH MAH GOODNESS!!!! I DON'T EVEN OWN AN EXFOLIATOR?????"
So I hunted up for some products and I came across Cure Natural Aqua Gel in one of Bubzbeauty's videos (thank you, bubz! eehee). I was aware that most exfoliators had rough bits in them (usually a grainy texture) and it's kind of common sense that having rough products scrubbin' away on my sensitive skin wasn't the most ideal way to go. So, when I heard that the Cure Natural Aqua gel was a gel that works with water based and natural ingredients without any hard bits in it, I was immediately tempted to purchase it.
I did, in the end, off Yesstyle.com (which was stupid of me because I didn't realize at that time that the local Watsons in HK sold this product too lOLOLOL sigh this happens all the time). It was pretty pricey but honestly,...I thought it was worth it! Read on to my review to see why :)
the product~ as you can see, already half done!
So first, a little about the product; it claims to:
- contain 91% revitalized hydrogen water and natural plant extracts of aloe vera, gingko and rosemary
- contains NO alcohol, colorings, fragrance or preservatives
- removes dead skin cells and unnecessary proteins
- makes skin brighter, smoother and softer
the back of the bottle...i can't read anything
on this except 'MADE IN JAPAN' omfg
PACKAGING
The product comes in a clear bottle with a pump. There's quite a lot in the bottle, so I wouldn't complain that the bottle is a bit tall. It is glossy on the surface and I love the simplicity of using blue, black and then transparent plastic to allow the white opaque liquid inside shine through, I think it's a very appealing look and definitely sells the look of cleanliness.
Sanitary-wise this packaging is also very effective in keeping the product untouched! The pump works extremely smoothly so there is little to no need to open up the bottle and expose the product to air or outside bacteria :)
FRAGRANCE
This product does have a smell when you apply it on the face, but it is mild and is not a perfume-like/artificial smell. It smells a bit sour (if i really had to find a word for it), but it's definitely not acidic, and also, it is bearable. I'd really rather this smell over artificial/perfume smells.
USE / EFFECT
I usually use this after a shower in hopes that my skin can better absorb the moisturizers and hydration gels with the dead skin sloughed off. So what I do is take 3 pumps (maximum, one pump already has a lot but to cover my entire face thoroughly I take three! :D) in my palms, then spread it on my forehead. Why I do this is because the consistency of the product is extremely runny, so it just falls on the rest of my face because of gravital force HAHAH
I spread it evenly throughout my face then I start massaging the gel into my skin. It takes a few gentle swipes before you can start feeling balls (almost like eraser bits) forming on the surface of your skin. Apparently, it's the dead skin! Really cool. I keep massaging the product into my skin until it kind of runs dry and all I have are all the eraser bit-like dead skin on my face. I then wash the nasteh stuff off of my face with cool water :)
In terms of my sensitive skin, this did not cause any sort of allergic reaction whatsoever. Only a slight tingling on my eczema areas, but no puffiness, redness or itchiness occured so yay! This really does suffice for sensitive skin like mine, woohoo!
After I wash off the remaining liquid and dead skin on my face, my skin actually feels squeaky clean and smooth. It also does not feel tight, even though I do still need to apply moisturizer and all that jazz afterwards, this exfoliator does not dry out my skin. However, note that this does not magically make your existing blackheads disappear. I personally never had that expectation in the first place, so I was in no way disappointed with this product's ability to get rid of my dead skin.
OVERALL
rating: * * * * * (five out of five!)
Yes, I do like this exfoliator a ton. I probably haven't tried out enough of other exfoliators to call this a Holy Grail exfoliator, but this does what it says it does and in no way was I disappointed with this when I've first used it. I've been using it for half a year now, and skin does feel healthier have regularly exfoliating it :)
The only con of this would be that it is on the pricey side and extremely hard to find if you live in the Western countries; even to some Asian countries too! However, I do recommend this and yes I will buy it again!
